Restraint

To: the manner born

Re: You little turd, where are you?

                        Where are you?

What is it?
    Is it over there?

How is my manner born?

Careful study of the group
trying to find god or something culpable
no chance

Bud of opinion
palpated
rolled in the palm
overshot
verdant mess
green palm

Bad reaction
my palm, that group
indecision

Bad reactions

Impatience about the quality of an argument
recedes and then

Teen agnostic turns and slopes

Home time

FOLDING

I’d rather fold
the quilt alone
arms outstretched
wings to glide
into bed
if the corners
don’t meet
no one to blame
but myself
and I don’t care

LIVING ALONE

I put tape over
what might show
in the mirror  my back
a snake
imagine the universe,
a ghost -
no living name for
the quake of all
who've seen me
be

Uplands and lowlands

your mercury mouth
your voice like chimes

your pockets
your street car visions
your flesh like
your face

my warehouse eyes

your sheets
your belt
your deck of cards
your basement close

your cowboy mouth
your curfew

one too many mornings

cheers!

you've completed another day
amongst those you consider friends
but what do they really think about you
when you go away

thoughts eat away at mind
destruction of confidence
and goals

sometimes the mind works too hard
this is beyond burnout

this is annihilation

Naji

Even in dreams
I cannot escape it
I wake myself in the night
try to make myself dream of zombies instead
that would be less scary
but in my dreams I watch myself wake up
and he's standing over me
asking
"Miss can you help me write this paper?"
