drafty

I lay beside a very cherub,
Kissed on a young blue-eyed brat
sporting a longish hard kick in the pants
that I took down the throat like communion,
come on.

once upon a time

Queen, when you crowned me
and gave me a remarkable dub,
I blushed and hid.

Now I, emerged,
watch you slip between
dark trees of internet.
You shrug me off cosmically.
You battle yawns when I clunk up to ask for you.

I cannot like you evenly.
O queen, your highness told me once who I am
and without you I am wandering.

alone in malibu

Alone in Malibu,
near my sweet red car
a candy drop
near my car I slowly prayed.

My inner ear felt horses move.

They moved invisibly near me.

my headlights
absorbed by the black of a horse.
horse moved as a shadow moves.
It glided, lengthened.

headlights
straight off the edge of curls in the road,
absorbed by the bodies of horses.

I plucked you up, my limber
doggie, lank and hanging
off the line

unfed you said
my silence gave you vertigo

oh forgive, your master made Polonius-sized mis-steps
and bullied blindly, colonial

crunch

you flighted down
and landed on me steadily,
crushed a lung for me and said
"permit it, pucky baby,
I am here, knock knock, delivery."

a terrible fish metaphor

This tall fish of water bought me a drink,
settled his mouth around my hook
and said, "pull."

I tugged, curious.
He flopped aboard, shining, vulnerable,
gasping, open and bleeding from the mouth,

and I panicked. I tossed him back.
You see? Please pardon.
He glides by me now, aloof, with a little scar
from where my hook dug.

like a bear I want him back.
I lure and beckon, ready to
really kill it,
but I fear it is too late, fishies.

Pardon the metaphor.
It elides the truth.
So many times by the yoke of my fearful life
I have scared off something gentle.

stillness vs. peace

Good to be alone. Think for hours at a time.
I sneak up on myself that way.
Move closer to the deer that drink in silence from the lake.

Stillness splits from peace.
They house a similar family,
but peace breaks me open with laughter and relief.

Stillness listens for the animals by the lake,
and for the lake, and for the underwater creatures
I cannot hold my breath long enough to see,
but strain for hungrily.

painfold

Real pain clings like a child
or a vine wrapped
tight around the leg.

It scrapes like an emory board
against my bone exposing red shifts.

Pain costs bling to lessen,
to make pale away like mist.
I pay it. Pero still, it singsongs
love you. As it tears around,
as it tears around Tazmanian.

:(

Hey, Teach! Teach,
I witness that you open up
like lifebread to eat.

My dear teacher
in tolerable words I want to create you,
for I partly love you
but I love you paltry wordily,
poorly badly and absurdly, so

Go get what you want out of me
and get out of me, please, Teach.
Please. The shame in fingering your hem and hawing "hey,
hey, hey Teach,
Teach."

Platonicals

We are not cheaters.
We do not want
to be pumpkin eaters.

Our sweaters tie
our bodies up like
sarcophagi.

No sense in sex.
And coy? Devoid of.
Just the facts.

Your clothes fit.
At the sink, your back
resists the fabric

along the shoulder blades.
Your pant leg ends
neatly at the sock.

I am a clean woman.
I am deadless, I am easy weather.
You and I, we make a merriment in stone,
and watch our tv shows alone together.

haiku

I want to sleep, but
I'm writhing, bleak. A worm
dangling from a beak.

comedy

I rode a fat old lion for fun,
for the balm of his lope.

Lions are invisibly bright,
like carrots growing orange under the ground.
Their tops allure you.

I think I'm prey,
'cause I freeze and my eyes bug out
for you, baby.
